Bayer China Launches "Country Carbon Footprint" Project     

Bayer China launched its nation-wide "Country Carbon Footprint" program recently, recording and auditing all the Carbon emissions produced during the production and business activities, covering all key production units and their energy supply, legal entity's office buildings, business cars, business travels, logistics and so on, making Bayer pioneering multinational in its kind who records the carbon emissions of all production and business aspects in China.
    The program has already rolled out in some production sites and office buildings. The whole program is expected to be concluded by the end of 2010.
    For the period between 2005 and 2020, Bayer has set new and ambitious emission targets, particularly in view of the achievements it has already made in cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The Bayer MaterialScience subgroup wants to reduce its specific greenhouse gas emissions per ton of sales product by 25% globally. Bayer CropScience is targeting a reduction of 15% in its absolute global emissions, and Bayer HealthCare of 5%.
