Wengfu Developed Granular Ammonium Sulfate

On May 14th, 2009, Wengfu Group's Phosphate Fertilizer Plant in Guizhou province successfully developed granular ammonium sulfate with high quality. The project went into trial runs on April 20th, and the company owns the intellectual property rights of this technology.
Granular ammonium sulfate is a new favorite in the international market in recent years. However, due to the particularity of its production processes and equipments, it still has not found widespread use in China, and the majority of domestic manufacturers and research institutes only made a few technical studies on it.
Wengfu says that it spends RMB200 million on developing new technologies every year. With aid of its intellectual property rights, the company's high-end phosphorus products which account for 30% of its total exports successfully enters into markets in areas like Australia, South America and Southeast Asia, and the Australian customers are in favor of its food-grade phosphoric acid (20 000 t/a) which is produced by adopting patent technology for purifying wet-process phosphoric acid and its ammonium phosphate (110 000t/a) in which Wengfu possesses core patent technologies.

Enters into Saudi Arabia Market

In 2008, Wengfu's proportion of earnings from traditional phosphate fertilizers, fine phosphorus chemical products and international technology trade was 85%, 10% and 5% respectively, but now the proportion will be changed to 50%, 35% and 15%. It is learned that Wengfu Group has undertaken the construction of a phosphates project in Saudi Arabia and is building an ore dressing plant there at present.
In November 2007, Wengfu Group won the bid for Ma'aden phosphate beneficiation project located at Al Jalamid in northern Saudi Arabia. (CCR2007 No.36) The company says that this plant has a total investment of US$350 million, and upon completion in May 2010, it can process 12.5 million tons of phosphate ore, and produce 5.3 million tons of phosphate concentrates every year.
In May 2008, Wengfu again won the bid for overall contracting of two projects to build industrial architecture and ancillary facilities as well as the industrial water systems at Al Jalamid for Ma'aden Phosphate Company. The total contract value is US$450 million.
Wengfu says that, according to the estimation by the Ministry of Commerce, its phosphate ore dressing plant alone can spur US$250 million worth of consumption for China in equipment procurement, materials and services.
As reported, at present, Wengfu has a large phosphate ore dressing plant which can produce 2.5 million tons of phosphate concentrate every year, and has also built a 400 000 t/a ore-dressing industrial demonstration unit.
Wengfu also says that, its proportion of earnings from traditional phosphate fertilizers has dropped from 85% in 2008 to 65% at present.
