Electroplating Wastewater Treatment Using Ion Exchange Technology

Recently, a green process which treats electroplating wastewater by using ion exchange technology and a closed circulation device which can be monitored online has been invented in Chongqing. After about one year's trial in 17 electroplating production lines, it showed that using this technology and device can annually save 120 000 tons of water altogether and recover over 10 tons of precious materials like nickel and chromium.
The technology and device were jointly developed by Chongqing Puxu Machinery Inc., Chongqing Electroplating Industry Association, Hunan Rare Earth Metal & Material Institute and Shashi Water Treatment Plant of Hubei province. The electroplating wastewater can be directly recycled after on-site treatment while the precious metals in it, like nickel and chromium, can be collected on-spot through resin absorption, and then returned to electroplating plants for use after purification. The onsite treatment device can be monitored online remotely and in real time.
