Yunnan Water to Invest RMB21.3 billion in Sewage Treatment     

Recently, Yunnan Metropolitan Construction Investment Co., Ltd. and Yunnan Urban & Rural Construction Investment Co., Ltd jointly invested and established Yunnan Water Industry Investment Co., Ltd. (Yunnan Water).
    The Yunnan provincial government says that in the following five years (2008-2012), it will invest RMB21.347 billion altogether on 248 newly-built or expanded infrastructure projects related to sewage and garbage treatment. One of the main businesses of Yunnan Water is to harmlessly dispose of sewage and garbage, promote the comprehensive utilization of wastes, and integrate raw water and running water business into its industrial chain. "Yunnan provincial government will only invest about RMB5 billion from its own budget as the starting fund for building sewage and garbage treatment projects, and the rest RMB16.347 billion will be solved by social financing via the platform of Yunnan Water." Xulei, director of Yunnan Water introduced that, the company will invest several billions to build dozens of sewage and garbage treatment projects across the province in 2009.
