MGC Shanghai Subsidiary Begins Commercial Operations      

Japan's Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC) announces commercial operation of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Shanghai Commerce Limited from on April 1st, 2009. The Shanghai-based subsidiary established in November 2008 aims to further strengthen MGC's operations in mainland China.
    Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Shanghai Commerce Limited will administer product sales and materials procurement for locally incorporated affiliates in China, as well as for the rest of the MGC Group, to strengthen and expand business in China, where further economic growth is expected.
    MGC established a representative office in Shanghai in February 2005 to provide support for MGC projects in China. Then its methanol derivatives production plant in Nanjing has started operations and MGC has also been pursuing surveys and studies to assess the feasibility of commercial operation in a range of areas including hydrogen peroxide and polycarbonate resin. The representative office will continue to provide support for MGC projects.
