Zhejiang to Fully Complement Emissions Permit Trading     

The "program on emission trading permit and trade pilot for major pollutants in Zhejiang province" handed over by Zhejiang provincial government to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Finance of China has been approved. As reported, Zhejiang will complement emissions trading in whole province in 2009.
   According to the program, Zhejiang province will invest about RMB1.02 billion to establish a emission trading platform and relative matching items such as trading rules, technology for calculating the total discharge.
  The Zhejiang provincial government is conducting basic survey and valuation on the treatment cost of COD (chemical oxygen demand) in key industries and sulfur dioxide in coal-fired power sector, as a basis for initial pricing of the emission trading permit.
