MIIT to Promote Clean Production in Taihu Area     

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a guiding regulation to promote clean industrial production in the region surrounding Taihu Lake, eastern China, relating to Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces. The guide regulation required that besides enhancing wastes treatment, the industrial enterprises in the area shall carry clean production beginning with the product design, selection of raw materials, production control and comprehensive utilization of wastes.
    As reported, there are lots of industrial enterprises in the due region, the emission of industrial wastewater accounts for more than 65% of the total discharge amount. The COD, ammonia based nitrogen and total nitrogen in discharges by industrial enterprises hold a proportion of 30%, 34% and 29% respectively of the regional total.
