SP Taixing Broke Ground Caustic Soda Project

CCR learned that Singpu Chemicals (Taixing) Co., Ltd. (SP Taixing) recently broke ground a 300 000 t/a caustic soda project in the China Fine Chemical Industry Taixing Park, a economic development zone designated as a fine chemicals hub in Jiangsu province.
Along with the new capacity, SP Taixing will have a total caustic soda production capacity of 450 000 tons per year.
Part of chlorine generated in the project will be used to feed the vinyl chloride monomers (VCM) production unit, which started commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2007. The rest chlorine will be sold to other companies in surrounding areas.
SP Taxing also plans to invest RMB3.4 billion to construct a 320 000 t/a styrene project (CCR 2009 No.10). SP Taixing is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SP Chemicals Ltd, a listed company located in Singapore.
