Industrial Silicon Market in March         

In March, the price of industrial silicon fell steadily. The cost of industrial silicon went down slightly, the price of low grade industrial silicon dropped considerably, but the price of high grade industry silicon remained unchanged. The price of industrial silicon increased gradually in both January and February 2009, and began to turn down in March. In the end of March, lots of customers said that both the quoted price and trading price have dropped to RMB9 400/t.
   Though there is higher operating rate in Hunan and Guizhou provinces, the demand for industrial silicon in downstream sectors has no dramatic increase, thus the low price of industrial silicon will continue. It is expected that the price of industrial silicon 533# will drop to about RMB9 000/t in late April.
