Idle Alumina Capacities Estimated at 13.67 MLN T/A     

China Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association disclosed that around 7.1 million t/a electrolytic aluminum production capacities and 13.67 million t/a alumina is now offline in China, estimated on the base of the output data for January to February, translating to an operation rate of 60% and 59% respectively.
   According to an official report, China's electrolytic aluminum output in the first two months of 2009 was 1.76 million tons, fell almost 330 000 tons compared to the one year earlier and the alumina output went down 240 000 tons to 3.23 million tons because of the shrinking demand.
