Carbon Footprint Forces Paper Maker to Upgrade

Recently China's first carbon footprint assessment case, for APP China and its six pulp paper making factories, was completed by Camco, a leading assessment organization worldwide. The assessment can help the company reduce energy consumption and dominate in environmental protection.
According to a report released by a domestic organization, the waste discharge and COD emission by the papermaking industry in 2007 accounted for 17% and 35% respectively of the national total. China's new emission standard for papermaking will be effective May 1st, 2009, which will force to reduce the COD emission to 950 000 tons in 2009, and to 434 000 tons in 2015.
