PetroChina Tries to Refine Crude Oil from Sudan       

PetroChina Dalian Petrochemical Company has refined 40 000 tons of cheaper crude oil from Sudan, mixed with other high quality crude oil in March 2009, as a trial to cut cost, announced by CNPC, PetroChina's majority shareholder on April 1st, 2009.
    A manager of CNPC said that the 10 million t/a first phase refinery in Qinzhou, Guangxi region, which is due for completion in 2009, will also process the high acid value crude oil from Sudan.
   CNPC also disclosed that expansion on the 10 million t/a of refinery expansion project in PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical Company was also started. The construction on the catalytic cracking unit of this project is scheduled to kick off on June 15th, 2009 and to be completed on August 20th, 2010.
