ProPower Silicon Launches 1 000 T/A Polysilicon Project

On March 28th, 2008 Zhejiang ProPower Silicon Co., Ltd. (ProPower) laid a foundation in Shangyu of Zhejiang province for the construction of 1 000 t/a polysilicon project.
This project will purify solar-grade polysilicon by "CP method", which is developed by ProPower itself. Compared to the traditional method that is normally used by domestic polysilicon companies at present, CP method can save five sixths of investment, four fifths of power consumption and two thirds of production cost in manufacturing polysilicon. Shanghai ProPower Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. provides the main manufacture facilities for this project.
The first phase 1 000 t/a polysilicon project with an investment of RMB130 million is scheduled to come on stream in September 2009, and will be expanded to 5 000 t/a in 2010.

Emei Semiconductor Starts up First Phase Polysilicon Project

On April 2nd, Dongfang Electric Corp. announced the first phase 1 500 t/a solar - grade polysilicon project, constructed by its subsidiary Emei Semiconductor Material Plant, has come on stream in Leshan, Sichuan province. This project adopts the modified Siemens method.
As reported, Emei Semiconductor put a 500 t/a polysilicon project into operation in Emei, Sichuan province in October 2008. Now the total capacity in the plant reaches 2 000 t/a.
Emei Semiconductor plans to construct over a 5 000 t/a capacity of polysilicon by 2010, and the second phase 1 500 t/a polysilicon project is scheduled to be completed in September 2009.

Fushun Koshuha Foundry to Launch Polysilicon Project

Fushun Koshuha Foundry Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with two foreign companies on March 25th, 2009 to construct a polysilicon project.
This project will have a total investment of US$1.2 billion and is planned in three phases. Construction on the first phase with an investment of US$200 million is started in April 2009, which is scheduled for startup in February 2010. The US$400 million second phase will be completed in February 2011 and the third phase in October 2011.
After full operation, this project can annually produce 10 000 tons of polysilicon and add sales revenue of RMB13.7 billion for the company.
