By Rowena Wang

The Center of Science and Technology of Construction of China (CSTC) and Bayer MaterialScience have signed a cooperation agreement on energy saving in the construction industry this March.
The two parties will take up research on China's policy on energy saving in construction as well as on technology trends, analyze the current Chinese challenges for energy saving in construction, and propose solutions. It was agreed that both parties will set up a test laboratory for evaluating the exterior thermal insulation system performance in natural environment conditions, and will cooperate in the field of construction technology standards.
The two parties strongly believe that the cooperation of the two parties will play a positive role in promoting Chinese construction energy-saving and sustainable development.
Energy saving is the major target of the construction industry with regard to sustainable development, and is also a key task for China's economic and social development. Chinese energy-efficient construction is now at the stage of development, and lots of theoretical and practical challenges are being studied, according to Mr. Yang Rong, Director of CSTC.
Dr. Azita Owlia, Polyurethanes Senior Vice President at Bayer MaterialScience Asia Pacific, pointed out that Bayer MaterialScience will take advantage of its elaborate technologies to strongly support objectives proposed by the Chinese government with regard to energy saving and the reduction of emissions, with the aim to promote energy-saving construction technologies in China.
