MOEP Approves New Testing Organizations for New Chemical Substances     

The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MOEP) approved on March 23rd seven organizations to supply testing services for new chemical substances registration. The name sheet includes the Biological and Safety Detecting Laboratory of Shanghai Academy of Public Measurement, the Pesticide Environmental Assessment and Pollution Control Key Laboratory of MOEP Nanjing Research Institute of Environmental Sciences, the ToxiSafe Assessment Centre of Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry (also called the Chemical Industry Pesticide Safety Assessment and Quality Supervision & Check Center), the Environmental Check Laboratory of Shanghai Academy of Environmental Sciences, the National Environmental Protection Chemical Products Ecological Effectiveness and Risks Judgment Key Laboratory of Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, the Institute of Pesticide & Environmental Toxicology of Zhejiang University, and Guangdong Detection Center of Microbiology. The ecological toxicology data supplied by these seven organizations can be accepted as the evidences for the registration of new chemical substances intended to enter China's market.
    MOEP announced that it has organized a professional team to have carried out spot check and blank sample testing check to all applicants and then approved seven certificates. This move is aimed at strengthening the technical properties of environmental management registration for new chemical substances, regulating the operation actions for testing organizations, improving the accuracy and reliability of testing data and promoting the mutual recognition with other countries.
   The certified organizations are required to submit annual report to MOEP and will be checked on a regular base, on a random base and on a reason base. Once someone does not pass any check, it will lose the certification.
