High Performance Carbon Fiber Industrial Park in Shenyang     

Shenyang Zhongheng Carbon Fiber Industry Group Co., Ltd. intends to build a carbon fiber production base at Kangping High Performance Carbon Fiber Industrial Park in Shenyang of Liaoning province.
   Construction on the proposed plant will be started in May 2009, with scheduled completion within three years. The plant plans to produce 12 500 tons of polyacrylonitrile based carbon fiber yarn per year, 5 000 tons of polypropylene based carbon fibers per year and 5 000 acrylonitrile based carbon fiber per year etc, to meet the growing demand for carbon fibers in aviation and spaceflight industries in Chinese market.
   The plant is estimated to cost RMB3 billion.
   Shenyang Zhongheng Carbon Fiber is a newly formed joint venture, one of its shareholders is China Hengtian Group Co., Ltd, the leading fibers producer in China.
   According to China Chemical Fiber Association, China produced roughly 24 million tons of chemical fibers in 2008, up 2.3% over the previous year.
