Accidents in February 2009
February 11th - A big fire happened at the methane sulfonamide workshop of Dexing Zhongke Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. located in Dexing, Jiangxi province in eastern China.  The fire affected more than 200 villagers. Fortunately, the accident caused no injury.  It is reported the accident's impact on environment was eliminated in hours.
   The company was built in 2003 by Quzhou Zhongke Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. with a total investment of RMB36 million. In January 2006 the company was controlled by Shanghai Synica Corporation Ltd. The production of pharmaceuticals and pesticide intermediates is its core business. It can annually produce 4 500 tons of methanesulfonyl chloride, 1 000 tons of methyl sulfonic acid, and 100 tons of n-methylpyrrolidine.   
    February 9th - Fujian province's Zhanpu Aihua Plastic Auxiliary Factory suffered an explosion. It engages in the production of plastic auxiliaries and leather additives from soybean oil and other plant oil. Fire caused by explosion has lasted for 4 hours. The accident was caused by a fault operation concerning formic acid. The whole factory was damaged in the fire, but no injury.  
    February 15th - Gaogang Yongxin Chemical Plant, located in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, suffered an explosion at a reactor. Two workers were injured seriously. A big fire caused by explosion was control in time. The exploded reactor had been used to make acetyl chloride. The company can annually produce 1 500 tons of acetyl chloride, 8 000 tons of phosphorus trichloride and 2 000 tons of phosphorous acid.
