China Strengthens Supervision on Cephalothin Injection Using Butyl Rubber Stopper
  
The State Food and Drug Administration on December 26th, 2008 reported it will step up supervision on cephalothin family injection with butyl rubber stopper, for solving the problem in clarity of cephalothin family injections and ensuring product quality and safety for drug users.
   Drug makers should choose the butyl rubber stopper which has characteristics of compatibility as originally tested when they registered the product. If a drug maker wants to change the supplier of butyl rubber stopper, it needs experimental verification for compatibility again and put on records at local food and drug regulating agencies.
   To ensure the supply of ceftriaxone sodium, the National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products was commissioned to institute an experimental method which could fast test the compatibility between ceftriaxone sodium and butyl rubber stopper.
