CNOOC Energy and Lurgi Cooperate in Acrylic Acid Plant in Guangdong   

Lurgi GmbH, a company of Air Liquide, has signed a contract with CNOOC Energy Technology & Services Limited (CNOOC Energy), a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), to build a plant for the production of acrylic acid from propylene. Acrylic acid will in turn be used for the manufacture of acrylates for paints and varnishes. The acrylates technology is provided by China Petroleum Engineering (Jilin) Company Ltd.
   The single-train plant, with a capacity of 140 thousand t/a acrylic acid, will be realized in Huizhou, Guangdong province. Lurgi will provide basic engineering, certain equipment and technical support. The contract is valued at Euro 38 million. The plant is scheduled to go on stream in spring 2011.
