China Renewed Directory of Hazardous Chemicals Controlled in Imports and Exports   

China's Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) and General Administration of Customs jointly announced on December 31st, 2008 the renewed Directory of Hazardous Chemicals to be Controlled in Imports and Exports (2009 edition), effective January 1st, 2009. Any domestic player or trader who plans to import or export the chemicals contained in the directory must in advance apply to MEP for the import environmental administrative registration certification of hazardous chemicals or the export environmental administrative allowance notice form.   
   The old directory was announced in 2006 and modified in early 2008.
The new directory includes 156 chemicals, mainly involving in inorganic hazardous chemicals containing arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury, cyanide, fluoride and organic ones such as aniline, acrylonitrile, ethylene oxide, acrylamide, part of organic tin series and CFCs, and high potency pesticides such as methamidophos, monocrotophos etc. Five chemicals are newly added in the directory - mixtures of cyanides, anti-knock preparations based on lead compounds, triethyl arsenate, zinc arsenide and gallium arsenide.
