China Promulgates New Air Guidelines for EIA    

The Guidelines for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) - Atmospheric Environment (HJ 2.2-2008) recently modified was officially promulgated as a national standard by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China on December 31st, 2008 and will take into effective April 1st, 2009. The previous edition (HJ/T 2.2-93) took into force in 1993 will not be replaced until April 1st, 2009.
   This standard provides the general principles, contents, working procedures, methods and requirements guideline in doing atmospheric environment impact assessment for newly planned projects, expansion projects and renovation projects. When doing atmospheric environment impact assessment for a regional plan, this standard can be taken as a reference.    
   Comparing with the old edition, nearly all aspects were modified in new edition, including the determination of assessment scope, the investigation contents and requirements on the current air quality, projection of impact from the applied projects etc.
