CNPC Plans to Invest RMB200 BLN for Five Projects      

CNPC, the majority shareholder of PetroChina Company Ltd., has decided the "crude oil pipeline network program for 2009-2020" in principal. The group plans to invest RMB200 billion in next few years for building five projects including natural gas / crude oil pipelines, refining complex, according to a source of CNPC.
   For energy pipelines, CNPC will construct China - Russia crude oil pipeline, the second west - east natural gas pipeline and the third natural gas pipeline.
   The group is building an extra multinational natural gas pipeline connecting a port of Bengal with Kunming of Yunnan province, southwestern China.
   Furthermore, the second west - east natural gas pipeline will be completed in 2009 to link with Central-Asian natural gas pipeline, which is under construction. The whole project is scheduled for startup by 2012. Just now, the group proposes to build a RMB1.2 billion natural gas pipeline in Jilin province.
    In reference to refineries, CNPC plans to double its Lanzhou (Gansu province) refining capacity to 20 million tons per year by 2015. And it also designs a refining complex in Chengdu of Sichuan province. CNPC is building a refining complex in Guangxi autonomous region.
   CNPC will complete the two 1 million t/a ethylene expansions in 2009, in Dushanzi of Xinjiang region and Fushun of Liaoning province respectively.
