BASF Offers Innovative Technology to Protect China's Coastlines

BASF recently introduced a solution to China, which can effectively protect the country's coastlines against threats from severe or changing weather conditions.
The innovative technology is a new alternative solution for coastline protection. It is a combination of stones and high performance two-component polyurethane (PU), of which more than 50% is comprised of castor oil modified raw materials. The solution is weathering-resistant and can effectively absorb the impact and energy of waves, hence reducing wave run-up and overtopping.
"We are committed to sustainable development, and we are proud that BASF can offer a solution to protect one of China's most valuable assets - its coastline," said Dr. Jens Dierssen, Director, Planning and Technology, BASF Polyurethanes Asia Pacific. This new product has been certified by SGS as having no harmful effect on the water of the ecosystem.
