Tax Plan for Environmental Protection

Chinese governmental departments of tax and environment put forward a taxation plan for environmental protection in 2008 and the candidate plans are subject to approval by the relevant regulating authorities, according to the Caijing magazine.
Chinese government formally released imposing the tax for environmental protection in June 2007. And the Ministry of Finance, the State Administration of Taxation and the State Environmental Protection Administration of China (SEPA) are order to take charge of the study and formation of the detailed taxation policies. Two researchers - Dr. Su Gang and Xu Wen proposed three candidate plans of collecting environment tax in their report announced in November 2007.
In the first plan, they suggest government collect tax from companies in line with profits companies gain through consuming resources.
According to the second plan, they think companies should pay tax according to how much pollutants they have discharged.
Thirdly, consumers of potentially polluting products should be imposed with tax, such as users of fuel, ozone-consuming commodities, fertilizers and pesticides.
In addition, China continues to encourage domestic companies to introduce environment-friendly technology and production process. SEPA announces.
