Liaoning to Construct 69 Urban Sewage Treatment Plants     

Liaoning province will construct 69 urban sewage treatment plants and increase the sewage treatment capacity by 3.69 million t/d during the Eleventh Five-year Program period (2006-2010). Every county and city in the province will have sewage treatment plants.
   The construction of sewage treatment plants in the province has been accelerated through tendering in recent years. Since 2002 Liaoning has raised nearly RMB4.0 billion and constructed 20 sewage treatment plants in the Liaohe River reaches. The sewage treatment capacity has been increased by nearly 2.15 million t/d. Another 10 sewage treatment plants with a design treatment capacity of over 660 000 t/d are under construction in the Liaohe River reaches today.
   It is reported that the province will strengthen the recycling of middle water in urban sewage treatment plants. New sewage treatment plants will have middle water recycling units and the middle water recycling rate will reach more than 20%.
