China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is a state-owned petroleum company incorporated in 1982. By the end of 2007, it controls four publicly listed companies - CNOOC Ltd. (HK: 0883, NYSE:CEO), China Oilfield Services Limited (SH: 601818, HK: 2883), CNOOC Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (SH: 600583) and China BlueChemical Ltd. (HK: 3983).
   January 9th, 2006: CNOOC Limited signed a definitive agreement with South Atlantic Petroleum Limited to acquire a 45% working interest in an offshore oil mining license "OML 130" in Nigeria for US$2.268 billion cash.
   January 12th, 2006: CNOOC Base Group Co., Ltd. and Kingland Group Co., Ltd. jointly established CNOOC Kingland Pipeline Co., Ltd.
   February 17th, 2006: CNOOC Africa Limited singed a production sharing contract for block S with the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy, and the National Oil Company of Equatorial Guinea (GEPetrol).
   February 21st, 2006: CNOOC has signed a production sharing contract with Devon Energy Corporation for block 11/34 in the South Yellow Sea.
   April 2nd, 2006: CNOOC Shell Petrochemical Co., Ltd. held a startup ceremony in Guangdong province to celebrate the commercial operation of the US$4.2 billion petrochemical integrated project.  
   April 2006: CNOOC decide to spin off its chemical fertilizer business to list in Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited.
   April 19th, 2006: CNOOC Limited announced that its owned 51% equity, Huizhou 21-1 gas field in Eastern South China Sea has come on stream successfully.
   April 28th, 2006: CNOOC Limited announced that it has successfully implemented a top-up placing.
   May 3rd, 2006: CNOOC Limited announced that Phase II of Dong Fang 1-1 Gas Field, has come on stream successfully.
   May 23rd, 2006: CNOOC Limited announced that Bo Zhong 25-1/25-1S Field Phase Platform A has successfully come on stream.
   June 7th, 2006: CNOOC has inked two production sharing contracts with BG Group for deepwater blocks 64/11 and 53/16 in the Western South China Sea.
   August 8th, 2006: CNOOC announced to join hands again with Husky Oil China Limited in exploring deepwater areas Offshore China.
   August 28th, 2006: The converter of the CNOOC's 600 000 t/a methanol project, made successful ignition in Dongfang Chemical City of Hainan province.
   September 1st, 2006: CNOOC signed a long-term strategic agreement with Solar Turbines, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc.
   September 12th, 2006: CNOOC Oil Base Group Limited signed an agreement with Panzhihua Municipal Government of Sichuan province on 'Jatropha-based bio-diesel production project in western Panzhihua'.
   October 12th, 2006: CNOOC announced that its 17-2 East Oilfield located in Qikou of the Bohai Sea started production.
   October 23rd, 2006: CNOOC has acquired the state-owned China National Chemical Construction Corporation (CNCCC).
   October 26th, 2006: CNOOC announced that it has signed a Framework Agreement with Suez Global LNG, Total SA and Shell Eastern Trading (Pte) Ltd., for LNG spot deliveries.
   October 26th, 2006: CNOOC Limited announced that Caofeidian 11-6/12-1S fields in Bohai Bay have come on stream successfully on schedule.
   November 16th, 2006: CNOOC Limited announced that its wildcat Jinzhou 31-6-1 drilled in Bohai Bay has successfully completed.
   November 16th, 2006: CNOOC has signed the "Agreement on the Joint Exploration in the Contract Zone of the North Bay" with Petro Vietnam.
   November 29th, 2006: CNOOC and KOGAS of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
   December 12th, 2006: CNOOC had signed two production sharing contracts with Devon Energy Corporation for deepwater blocks 64/18 and 53/30.
   December 13th, 2006: CNOOC and Hainan Provincial Government signed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation in Haikou.
   December 2006: CNOOC and Iranian Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, in an initial deal valued at US$16 billion natural gas.
   January 22nd, 2007: CNOOC held discussions with Hubei provincial government about the joint development and utilization of phosphate rock resources and the development of the phosphorus chemical industry.
   April 5th, 2007: CNOOC announced the signing of construction contract on LNG project in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.
   April 2007: China National Chemical Supply and Sales (Group) Corporation (China Chem Group) is merged into CNOOC.
   May 18th, 2007: CNOOC Limited has successfully put on stream Wei Zhou 11-1.
   May 22nd, 2007: CNOOC Oil Base Group Ltd. has formed a joint venture with Air Products (NYSE: APD).
   May 2007: CNOOC has controlled Dayukou Chemical Co., Ltd. of Hubei Province.
   July 6th, 2007: Binjiang Industry Park of Taizhou Economic Development Zone and China Offshore Oil & Gas Development & Utilization Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC, singed a contract for jointly constructing an asphalt and lube oil project.
   July 31st, 2007: The ceremony for starting the project of CO2-based degradable plastic chlorinated polypropylene jointly funded by CNOOC and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry CAS was held in Dongfang, Hainan province.
   August 6th, 2007: CNOOC has signed a Production Sharing Contract with Singapore Petroleum Company Limited for the block 26/18.
   August 14th, 2007: CNOOC has signed two Production Sharing Contracts with Newfield Exploration Company for blocks 22/15 and 16/05 respectively.
   September 15th, 2007: CNOOC and China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO) signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
   September 24th, 2007: CNOOC Limited announced that its subsidiary CNOOC SES Ltd. has completed the Phase II of Southeast Sumatra (SES) Gas Project.
   October 12th, 2007: CNOOC Oil & Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Hebei Zhongjie Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. signed a cooperative agreement for building a 10 million t/a refinery in Cangzhou, Hebei province.
   October 16th, 2007: CNOOC started to construct the Hainan Ledong Gas Field onshore pipeline project.
   November 2007: CNOOC-Shell Company Ltd., a 50/50 joint venture between Shell and CNOOC, plans to increase the production in its exiting petrochemical plant.
   December 13th, 2007: CNOOC and Hainan Provincial Government signed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation in Haikou, Hainan province.
