China Prepares to Reform Healthcare Regulations    

The Ministry of Health of China (MOH) recently announced a proposed reform suggestions aiming to improve the health level of people all over the country. Stronger medical service and healthcare network has been witnessed after dozens years of hard works, particularly experienced the SARs outbreak in 2003. However, MOH pointed out, the current medical and healthcare service level lags behind the raised demand from people, and the imbalance between urban and village healthcare is serious, the production and sale of medicines are not operated in a regular way, along with the insufficient input by the government and the rapidly increased medicine prices, the reform is urgent and necessary. The proposal is listed with 20 main items.  
   MOH made it public in early October for collecting public response. Some judgers criticized the proposal is empty and needs to be further detailed.
