China Continues to Focus on Work Safety    

Will China keep a clean air and safety work after the Olympics ended? An explosion happened on August 26th warned the Chinese government not to loose supervision on the production, not limited to chemical makers. The Work Safety Committee (WSC) under the State Council announced urgently on September 5th to start a strict check on all chemical makers in the period of September 10th to December 10th. (CCR 2008 No.26) Some provincial governments followed to take measures in order to reduce harmful accidents.  
   The work safety office of Hebei province issued a notice that the dangerous chemicals makers whose production sites do not leave a safety distance enough from the neighbored area must relocate their production sites. Hebei Baosuo Company Limited (SH: 600155) received the notice and already discontinued the production of chlor-alkali unit.
   The Tianjin municipal government recently went public the Tianjin Safety Management Measure of Dangerous Chemicals, effective November 1st, 2008. The management measure cites concerned laws to officially regulate the safety supervision and administration on dangerous chemicals. Tianjin has approximately 10 thousand firms engage in the business related to dangerous chemicals.  
   The Fujian provincial government recently started to check the dangerous chemicals and the work safety of chemical makers in the province. This province will strengthen the safety supervision on the transportation of dangerous chemicals, and achieve safe production of dangerous chemicals by eliminating the chemical makers not meeting the industrial program, without sufficient safety protection distance, consuming energy highly, producing heavy pollution, and not able to guarantee safe production.
