Sherwin-Williams Acquires Liquid Coatings Subsidiaries of Inchem to Speed up Global Strategy

On September 3rd, the Sherwin-Williams Company announced that it has completed an agreement to acquire the Liquid Coatings Subsidiaries of Inchem Holdings International Limited. This acquisition will enlarge Sherwin-Williams' coating production range in Asia-Pacific area; it is a tremendously successful acquisition for the chemical coatings division in the Asia-Pacific area and shows Sherwin-Williams' active response to market demands, its global strategy and a determination to further expand the Asia-Pacific market.
Sherwin-Williams, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is a global leading coatings and coatings-related product manufacturer and distributor. The Chemical Coating Division is one of the major departments in the company, and has myriad of international clients in the electronics, furniture and heavy-duty machinery market. This acquisition will expand its production facilities and sales networks to a wider field, including China, to serve the local clients better.
Headquartered in Singapore, Inchem produces coatings applied to wood and plastic products in Asia. These waterborne, solvent-based, and ultraviolet (UV) curable coatings are applied to furniture, cabinets, flooring, and electronic products that are manufactured both for export and domestic sale. The coatings are made and sold in China, Vietnam and Malaysia, and distributed to 15 other Asian countries. Founded in 1992, Inchem has four manufacturing plants, sales of approximately US$30 million.
Christopher M. Connor, Chairman and CEO of The Sherwin-Williams Company, said, "We are pleased to bring Inchem, a well-respected company throughout Asia, to China, Vietnam, and Malaysia, and most importantly its people into the Sherwin-Williams family. This acquisition reaffirms our commitment to growing globally through organic expansion, accelerated by strategically important acquisitions."
After the acquisition, Sherwin-Williams will pay more attention to the Asia-Pacific market, continuously supplying innovative pro-environment coating techniques and locally customized and high-quality coatings products.
