MEP Criticizes Ten Enterprises
    The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) made August's second announcement criticizing ten enterprises with environmental pollution problems. These enterprises include Hunan Chenzhou Anren No.1 Reclaimed Rubber Factory, Hubei Suizhou Yuanfeng Chemical Company Limited, the Smelting Company Limited of Hebei Pingshan Jingye Group, Fujian Putian Chigang Huaqiao Economic Development Zone and Hiwin Fine Chemical Company Limited of CNOOC Hainan Oil&Gas Ltd., Jiangxi Jiujiang Ruichang Hongyi Smelting Company Limited, Gansu Wuwei Ronghua Industry Company Limited, Jiangsu Nantong Jiangshan Agrochemical & Chemicals Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Xinfeng Holding Co., Ltd. and Xishuangbanna Anda Bridgestone Natural Rubber (Yunnan) Co., Ltd.     Hunan Chenzhou Anren No.1 Reclaimed Rubber Factory was found to discharge waste gases and sewages that exceed the allowed values a lot, severely harming the citizens around. The factory was required to stop production and solve the pollution problems.
    The 100 000 t/a compound fertilizer production line of Hubei Suizhou Yuanfeng Chemical Company Limited has operated commercially without passing the environmental impact assessment.
     Hiwin Fine Chemical Company Limited of CNOOC Hainan Oil&Gas Ltd. discharges waste water with pollutants content exceeding the allowed value and having bad impacts on the citizens living around the company.
     Jiangsu Nantong Jiangshan Agrochemical & Chemicals Co., Ltd. commenced production of two projects without the appraisal of the government.
    Xishuangbanna Anda Bridgestone Natural Rubber (Yunnan) Co., Ltd. has discharged pollutants since August 2006. The sewage treatment facility in the company has not operated normally since damaged in August 2006.
    Other five companies that were criticized are majoring in smelting business or electronic manufacturers.
