FDI up 45% in July      

The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced the foreign direct investment (FDI) on August 12th. In the first seven months of 2008, the FDI reached US$60.7 billion, up 44.54% year-on-year. FDI in July was US$8.3 billion.
   There are 16 891 foreign-funded firms newly established in China in the previous seven months of 2008, down 22.15% year-on-year, with 2 347 new foreign-funded firms in July.
   The country has been one of the world's most attractive destinations to foreign investment, with a growing FDI while a decreased number of newly formed firms this year.
