New Directory of Hazardous Wastes

The Ministry of Environmental Protection has recently published a new "Directory of Hazardous Wastes" for the implementation from August 1st, 2008.
The directory includes following solid wastes and liquid wastes: (1) substances that have one or several hazardous features such as corrosivity, toxicity, ignitability, reactivity and infectivity; (2) substances that likely have hazardous features, may cause hazards to environment or human health and need to be administered as hazardous wastes.
Wastes covered in the directory are mostly substances generated in the chemical production.
Hazardous features are classified into four categories according to their corrosivity (C), toxicity (T), ignitability (I), reactivity (R ) and infectivity (In).
Wastes included in the "Directory of Hazardous Wastes" have to be treated (incineration, landfill, curing, deep burial and hazard removal) by specialized environmental protection units with necessary qualifications and treatment at will (piling, landfill and discharge in convenient places) is forbidden.
