150 Enterprises in Beijing Discontinue Production    

"Comprehensive control measures before the holding of Beijing Olympic Games are fully completed and measures for reducing pollutants during the Olympic Games and the Disabled Olympic Games are also ready for implementation," said Zheng Jiang, Deputy Director of Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau, on July 15th. More than 150 heavy-polluting enterprises in or around Beijing are already prepared for temporarily discontinued production during August 1st to September 20th.
   27 cement enterprises including Yanshan Cement Plant and 106 quarrying and lime enterprises in southwest of Beijing are asked to temporarily discontinued production. Most production facilities of Sinopec Beijing Yanhua Petrochemical Company will stop operation. After the shutdown and relocation of Beijing Dyestuffs Plant and Beijing Coking Plant in 2006, Beijing Huaer Co., Ltd. and Organic Chemical Plant of Beijing Dongfang Petrochemical Company Ltd. has now already stopped production. By July 15th no chemical enterprises in suburbs of Beijing still operated.
   "By the end of June Beijing has completed renovation on 1 462 filling stations, 52 oil depots and 1 387 tank cars," said Zhong Liangxi, Head of the Polluting Source Control Division of Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau.
