Fujian Exercises Strict Control on Industrial Pollution in Rural Areas   

It is defined in the "Views concerning Environmental Protection Work in Rural Areas" jointly issued by eleven governmental departments of Fujian province that the province will strengthen supervision and administration on industrial enterprises' sites in rural areas, implement the system for up-to-standard pollutant emission and total pollutant emission amount control in those enterprises and strictly control industrial pollution in rural areas.
   Fujian provincial financial budget will pay for the specific fund for the environment rectification in villages and towns. Various city and county governments of the province will also spend the specific fund for the unfolding of county-level environment monitoring and standardization, upgrade environment monitoring and control ability and increase environmental protection input in rural areas. Environment monitoring in drinking water sources, natural protection areas, basic farmlands, areas with fragile water/soil ecology and coastal areas will be strengthened. Projects not in line with regional function positioning and development orientation and not in conformity with industrial policies of the state shall not be approved to be constructed in rural areas. Industrial policies and environmental protection standards of the state will be strictly implemented. Seriously-polluting and outdated production projects, processes and equipment will be eliminated. Compulsory clean production assessment will be conducted to enterprises making pollutant emission beyond standard or beyond total amount, using toxic and hazardous raw materials in the production or discharging toxic and hazardous substances in the production.
