Teijin Chemicals to Expand Production of PC Compounds in Shanghai

Japan's Teijin Chemicals Ltd. has decided to boost the production capacity of its wholly owned subsidiary in China, Teijin Chemicals Plastic Compounds Shanghai Ltd. in an effort to respond to growing demand for polycarbonate (PC) resin compounds in China and Asia.
The Shanghai plant will add the annual compound production capacity of 39 000 tons. Construction is expected to start in August 2008 due startup by August 2009. At that time, Teijin Chemicals Plastics Compounds Shanghai will increase PC resin compounds capacity up to about 102 thousand tons per year, one of the largest production capacities in the world.
PC resin compounds are widely used in electric/electronic and office automation equipment, as well as automobiles in China and the ASEAN region. In response to such circumstances, Teijin Chemicals Plastic Compounds Shanghai increased its annual production capacity from 43 thousand tons to 63 thousand tons in December 2007.
