YSCIC Suspends Production Temporarily    

Yunnan Salt & Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (YSCIC SZ: 002053) announced on June 30th that due to the accident happened in Kunming Salt Mine that is operated by Anning Hongfang Engineering Co., Ltd. the 100 000 t/a PVC unit of YSCIC has discontinued production and the 100 000 t/a caustic soda unit has operated at a low load till the accident is well treated with. The output of PVC will be down by around 3 000 tons this year and the caustic soda output will be reduced by around 2 000 tons.
   An explosion suddenly broke out in Anning Hongfang Engineering Co., Ltd. that is managed by YSCIC on June 27th, causing one dead and one injured. The explosion happened when workers were starting the repair operation.
   Anning Hongfang Engineering Co., Ltd. was established on December 22nd, 2003. It is located in southwest of Anning, Yunnan province, 32 km from Kunming the provincial capital. The company occupies an area of 3.2 hectares and is mainly engaged in metal cutting, nonstandard equipment and pipe manufacturing and installation, bucket manufacturing, casting, rubber lining, PO lining, briquette lining, epoxy fiberglass lining, glass-flake lining, PVC and PP equipment and pipe manufacturing and installation, thermal insulation and cold insulation.
   On July 7th, YSCIC reported that the PVC unit is ready for restoring production.
