WPC Completed 60 000 T/A Sulfur Recovery Unit

Through 15-month construction, the 60 000 t/a sulfur recovering unit in Sinopec Wuhan Petrochemical Company Ltd. (WPC) produced the first batch of liquid sulfur on June 26th. It indicates that the new unit has formally come on stream.
The 60 000 t/a sulfur recovering unit is the third completed unit of the first-phase four units in the 8.0 million t/a oil product quality upgrading project. The first two completed units are the new atmospheric distillation unit and the 1.2 million t/a coking unit. The construction of the sulfur recovering unit was started on March 5th, 2007. The completion of the unit will help WPC greatly increase the treatment capacity of hydrogen sulfide generated in upstream production units, reduce the environmental pollution caused by torch emission and also minimize the emission of sulfur dioxide.
