Six Chemical Firms in Guangdong Ordered for Pollution Rectification     

On May 12th the Environmental Protection Bureau and the Supervision Bureau of Guangdong province published a list of major areas with pollution problems and major enterprises with environmental pollution in 2008 and decided to order 20 enterprises violating environmental regulations for pollution rectification.
   The six chemical firms include Sinopec Guangzhou Petrochemical Company, Panyu Meishan - Mali Yeast Co., Ltd., Heyuan Lianping County Longjie Refinery, The Sewage Treatment Plant of Dayawan Petroleum and Chemical Industry Zone, The Jiangmen Sugarcane Chemical Factory (Group) Co., Ltd. and The Maoming Branch of Guangdong Guangkeng Rubber Group Co., Ltd.
    Faced with the serious situation of drinking water source safety, the Environmental Protection Bureau of Guangdong province has formulated measures in accordance with the target for the control amount and the reduction amount of pollutant emission to avoid the happening of major pollution accidents.
