LANXESS Showed Sales Growth of 23.4% in China for 2007     

LANXESS, the specialty chemical company, showed the strong double digit growth of 23.4% in sales in China adjusted for product portfolio and currency effects in 2007. With the lasting "LANXESS Goes Asia" strategy, LANXESS continued the targeted investment in China: new SCP (Semi-Crystalline Products) R & D testing center in Wuxi (May 2007) strengthened its presence in industry globally, Asia and China customers can benefit more in terms of new technologies and applications; The startup of the second line for engineering plastics in Wuxi in second half of 2007 meant LANXESS will strongly meet the growing demand of its customers; LANXESS opened a new rubber chemicals plant at Tongling of Anhui province in October 2007 for antioxidant 6PPD, to meet the increasing global demand for rubber chemicals especially in the Asia Pacific region. In April 2007, Lanxess Business Unit IPG (Inorganic Pigment) started the operation of a new plant for yellow raw pigment production in Jinshan District, Shanghai, to ensure the supply of raw materials to the existing blending and milling operations of LANXESS IPG in Shanghai, which is becoming a key force for its profitability in Asia.    LANXESS Business units SCP, FCC, TRP and PBR performed very well in the fiscal year 2007 and presented the powerful strength and potentials in Chinese market.
   LANXESS sales for 2007 came in at EUR 6.61 billion, down 4.8% from the prior year of EUR 6.94 billion. After adjusting for currency and portfolio effects of 9.8%, sales growth was 5.0%, according to LANXESS.
