Furfural Waste Water Treatment and Utilization Technology      

The technology for waste water (generated in the furfural production) treatment and utilization developed by Jilin Jiachen Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd. with the financial support from the Ministry of Science and Technology has passed experts' appraisal. The waste water contains large amounts of acetic acid and high-boiling organics and can very easily pollute soil and underground water. It has always been a problem in urgent need of solution.
    The new technology can treat waste water generated in the furfural production and also use treated organic pollutants in the production of environmental friendly snow-thawing agents.        
    It has won two patents of the state. If a furfural producer with production capacity of 3 000 t/a uses this advanced technology to treat waste water, the discharge amount of COD (chemical oxygen demand) can be reduced by more than 900 tons a year.
