SEPA Lifts "Approval Restriction" on 5 Regions      

After the lifting of "approval restriction" on the first 5 regions, the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) decides to lift "approval restriction" on another 5 regions that have reached the rectification requirements. These 5 regions include Baiyin of Gansu province, Chaohu of Anhui province, Bengpu of Anhui province, Handan Economic Development Zone of Hebei province and Shenxian Industrial Park of Shandong province.
   Baiyin Municipal Government has included all acts in violation of environmental protection regulations in the scope of rectification. It is discovered in the field survey made by the SEPA that the water quality in Dongdagou with serious pollution before has improved remarkably. With the impact of "approval restriction", some problems in Yinguang Co., Ltd. such as sulfuric acid mist pollution have been started to have effective solution.
   Bengpu Municipal Government has conducted overall environmental rectification and shut down small chemical enterprises and small electroplating enterprises. The safety problem of drinking water in polluted areas has been solved. Chaohu Municipal Government has ordered Wanwei Group Co., Ltd. to suspend production for rectification.
   Environmental protection departments of Shenxian, Liaocheng, and Shandong province have examined all the projects in Shenxian Industrial Park and formulated schemes for implementation. The construction projects in the park that have been constructed without the approval by environmental protection departments or the production projects have started operation without the acceptance appraisal by environmental protection departments have been suspended.
   Handan Municipal Government has issued an urgent circular to recall the right of the Economic Development Zone to environmental impact evaluation and conducted reevaluation on the environmental impact of projects already approved by the Economic Development Bureau of the Economic Development Zone.
