--Interview with SACHEMINC ASIA President  Mr. Jerry A. Windisch

SACHEM, Inc., established in 1950, is a privately held specialty chemical company headquartered in Austin, Texas, USA. With the rapid development of China's economy, SACHEM is opening its bulk production facility in Wuxi, Jiangsu province. Their goal is to become a leading chemical company in China. The success of their first step has given them more confidence for future development. On September 21st, 2007 the journalist of CCR visited SACHEMINC Representative Shanghai Office and conducted a special interview with the two key people of SACHEM, Mr. Jerry A. Windisch, President of SACHEMINC ASIA and Mr. Weilian Lang, Chief Representative of SACHEMINC Representative Shanghai Office and Vice President of SACHEM Wuxi Co., Ltd., to learn more about SACHEM's development.

Overview

SACHEM Inc. of the USA is a global chemical company in the supply of high purity, high performance products and services to the electronics, catalysts, polymer, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, paper and energy markets. SACHEM is also a world leader in the production of quaternary ammonium hydroxides, including tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH). SACHEM owns advanced technology and equipment and has passed the authentication of ISO9001. Today, SACHEM has established leading position in several key markets through the supply of high purity quaternary salts, hydroxides and epichlorohydrin derivatives. SACHEM is recognized for innovation, technical expertise, revolutionary service and an unwavering commitment to safety and environment.
   SACHEM employs under world-class manufacturing standards at five facilities respectively located in Austin (Texas, USA), Cleburne (Texas, USA), Zaltbommel (The Netherlands), Higashi Osaka (Japan) and Wuxi (Jiangsu province, China). SACHEM also operates a high purity recycle, packaging and laboratory facility in Osaka. In addition, SACHEM provides worldwide support through a service network present in over 30 countries.
   
Step in China

In 2004, SACHEM established a representative office in Shanghai to support growing opportunities in China and surrounding areas. In order to meet the demands for TFT-LCD and IC industry increase of the following several years of Chinese and Asian markets, Wuxi SACHEM Co., Ltd. (Wuxi SACHEM) with a total authorized capital of US$38.4 million is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SACHEM Inc. of the USA. Covering an area of 80 000 m2, Wuxi SACHEM will mainly be engaged in the production of TMAH.
   Construction on the first-phase project of Wuxi SACHEM was started in October 2006 and was completed in September 2007. On October 15th, 2007 Wuxi SACHEM is going to hold the opening ceremony at Wuxi National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Jiangsu province. After completion of the first phase, the facility with a capacity of greater than 5,000 t/a TMAH will be a provider of high pure chemicals for the semiconductor, TFT-LCD, starch and paper-making industries. Upon completion of all phases of the investment, TMAH capacity will be greater than 40,000 t/a.  Nowadays, there are 44 employees in Wuxi SACHEM, in which SACHEM has their own research and development laboratory to complete their R&D operations in the American and European Regions and better support the growth in China.
   It is release by Mr. Windisch, the first-phase project is almost fully committed and the company is planning the second-phase project at Wuxi site. The second-phase project is expected to be launched at the end of 2008 or early 2009.

Future Plan

When it comes to the future plan, Mr. Windisch was very confident to tell the journalist that SACHEM will continually be a company that is innovative, dependable and easy to deal with. Through the efforts of their personnel, the company will focus on improving all aspects related to safety, health, environmental protection, quality and financial strength.
   SACHEM will concentrate on growth oriented market segments and will proactively seek out the high purity needs of companies conducting chemical processing activities. Key markets that have been identified as growth platforms are: electronic chemicals, carbohydrates, catalysts, polymers, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and agrochemicals.
