Gansu Yinguang Starts Environmental Pollution Control Project   

Construction on the environmental pollution control project that is funded by Gansu Yinguang Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. with a total investment of RMB393 million was started in Baiyin, Gansu province on August 10th, 2007.
   The project is planned to be completed within 26 months and a brand new dilute sulfuric acid vacuum concentration production line will be constructed. After its completion the project can treat 537 000 tons of dilute sulfuric acid a year. Spent sulfuric acid generated in various production lines in Gansu Yinguang can be totally treated. The recovery rate can reach 99%. Sulfuric acid mist pollution can therefore be thoroughly removed. Besides, a 780 000 t/a sewage comprehensive treatment unit mainly using biochemical treatment technology will also be constructed. The centralized treatment of sewage generated in the production will be conducted and the discharge of pollutants will be reduced. The project can completely solve the problem of sulfuric acid mist pollution that has beset the company for more than 40 years. The discharge of NOx and sewage will reach emission standards.
   The 50 000 t/a TDI production line owned by the company was constructed on December 15th 2006. (CCR2007, No. 1) The research on the development and application of TDI key technologies conducted by Gansu Yinguang with an input of RMB220 million passed the experts' appraisal in Gansu Yinguang on August 29th. The output of TDI in the company will be increased to 100 000 tons at the end of 2009. The capacity of the 50 000 t/a TDI unit in the company is only next to the 160 000 t/a TDI unit constructed by BASF in Shanghai. China has 5 TDI producers today. In early days of this year, the 30 000 t/a TDI unit in Cangzhou Dahua had an explosion (CCR2007, No. 15) and the TDI unit in BASF also had an accident. These accidents have aroused great attention of safe production supervision departments to the TDI production.
