Hongji Coking Starts 210 000 T/A Urea Project

Construction on the 210 000 t/a urea project in Xinjiang Hongji
Coking Co., Ltd. was started in Pukang, Xinjiang on August 16th,
2007. It is the first-phase coke chemical project of the company
using surplus coke oven gas to produce urea. The company has 214
million m3 of surplus coke oven gas and can use it to produce
210 000 tons of urea a year. Production is expected to be started
in March 2009.
   The coke comprehensive chemical project in the company is
executed in three phases. The first phase was launched in May
2005 and put into production on April 30th, 2006. Construction
on the second phase was started on September 28th, 2006 and can
acquire a capacity of 800 000 t/a coke and 50 000 t/a tar after
its completion. The third phase will be launched in 2008. After
the full completion of the project, a capacity of intermediates
such as 1.6 million t/a coke, 100 000 t/a tar, 22 000 t/a crude
benzene and 210 000 t/a urea will be formed, more than twenty
fine chemical raw materials such as refined naphthalene, pure
benzene and xylene, as well as fuel oils, will be produced and
the sales revenue in the company can be increased by RMB2.0
billion a year.
