Tarim Petrochemical Kicks off 800 000 T/A Urea Integrated Unit

On August 15th, 2007 construction on the 800 000 t/a urea
integrated unit was started in Tarim Petrochemical Corporation
in Kurle, Xinjiang of northwestern China. China Petroleum 7th
Construction Company undertook the construction. As the biggest
urea production unit in China today, the 800 000 t/a urea
integrated unit adopts the ammonia stripping technology and jet
fluidized bed granulation process technology, respectively from
Snamprogetti Corporation of Italy and Toyo Engineering
Corporation of Japan. Waste gas and water discharged from the
project are designed to meet the national standard.
With the abundant natural gas reserves in Tarim Basin as the
raw material, this project is scheduled to start production in
2009. The company will consume nearly 500 million m3 of natural
gas more per year. An annual sales revenue of RMB1 billion will
be added for the company.
