Zhenjiang Rectifies Chemical Enterprises

During July 3rd to 8th 2007, the environmental protection
department of Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province made comprehensive
investigation on more than 20 chemical enterprises in Zhejiang
that discharged into Taiping River of Danyang.
   With a length of more than 10 kilometers, Taiping River is
the major source of water supply for local irrigation and living.
Recently, industrial swage was gradually discharged into the
river so that made the water greatly pollute and had bad effect
on irrigation. After the investigation, 3 chemical companies
with discharge seriously beyond relevant standard were ordered
for suspension and 2 ones that don't implement the environmental
protection laws were compelled for renovation of discharge exit
within a definite time.
