CCHCCC Establishes Coal Chemical Base

China Coal Heilongjiang Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. (CCHCCC)
recently held a ceremony  for starting the construction of a 250
000 t/a methanol project and a 600 000 t/a oil shale based crude
oil project in Harbin, Heilongjiang province.
The 250 000 t/a methanol project got the approval from the
National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on August 31st,
2004. The project fully uses local coal resources and adopts the
low-pressure methanol synthesis technology developed by East
China University of Science and Technology. Systematic
optimization and expansion renovation will be conducted to the
existing production unit. By the end of April 2007, an investment
of RMB201.06 million had been spent and the construction of the
air separation unit, the methane partial oxidation unit and the
methanol unit was completed. The project will make trial
production at the end of 2008. The actual capacity of methanol
can reach 340 000 t/a. When the existing capacity of 140 000 t/a
is added, the company will have a total methanol capacity of 480
000 t/a and become an important methanol production base in
Northeast China.
The 600 000 t/a oil shale based was fulfilled crude oil
project got the approval from NDRC on August 25th, 2004. The
project uses the oil shale fluidized dry-distillation
technology developed by the company itself and extracts
high-quality oil shale crude oil from scrap oil shale in coal
mining.
CCHCCC is jointly established by China National Coal Group
Corporation and former Harbin Coal Chemical Co., Ltd.
