Bluestar Launches POM Project in Shanghai

Recently, Shanghai Bluestar Chemical New Material Plant
formally launched the 60 000 t/a polyoxymethylene (POM) project
in Shanghai. As the company's second-phase POM project, the
project has a total investment of more than RMB1.2 billion. After
completion of the 60 000 t/a POM project, the sales revenue in
the company can be increased by more than RMB800 million a year.
The company is targeting to complete its first-phase 40 000 t/a
POM project and start it up at the end of 2007 in Shanghai Spark
Development Zone, Pudong New Area, Shanghai.
As the largest project invested by Bluestar Group in Shanghai,
the whole base will be executed in 3 phases. It is expected that
the company will complete the 200 000 t/a POM unit and make the
sales revenue reach over RMB4 billion in 2010 so that become one
of the largest POM production base in the world.
The POM consuming market extensively concentrates in Yangtze
River delta area and Pearl River delta area in China. Shanghai
Bluestar Chemical New Material Plant will take advantages of its
convenient location and navigation conditions so that the POM
supply/demand gap of domestic market will be greatly alleviated.
Shanghai Bluestar Chemical New Material Plant as a subsidiary
of ChemChina (China National Chemical Corporation) is under
control of China National Bluestar (Group) Corporation. Main
businesses in the plant include POM production, R/D of fine
chemicals and sales of relevant chemicals and oil materials.
