SYPC Kicks off Refinery Project in Shaanxi

On June 6th, 2007 Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd.
(SYPC) started construction on the Yangzhuanghe refinery
project in Jiaokouhe town, Luochuan county, Shaanxi province.
The project has a total investment of around RMB6.1 billion.
   The first phase of the refinery project has a registered
investment of RMB4.837 billion, including 6 units - a 1.2 million
t/a benzene extraction unit, a 1.4 million t/a diesel
hydrogenation unit, a 600 000 t/a liquefied gas desulfuration
unit, a 600 000 t/a gas fractionation unit, a 200 000 t/a
polypropylene (PP) unit and a 120 000 t/a MTBE (methyl tert-butyl
ether) unit. There are another 5 environment-friendly
facilities and related production facilities, including dry
gas/liquefied gas desulfuration unit and sulfur unit. The second
phase of the refinery project has a registered investment of
RMB1.3 billion, including some chemical units such as dry
gas-to-ethyl benzene unit, styrene unit, polystyrene unit,
methyl ethyl ketone unit, etc.
    It is targeting to complete the first phase of the project
at the end of 2008 and start it up in the first half of 2009.
After completion of the first phase, the upgrading of the
products can be realized. Automotive gasoline according with the
Euro-III Standard, high-quality diesel, benzene and PP products
can be manufactured then.
    Established in 2005, SYPC is the fourth largest petroleum
exploitation corporation, following CNPC, Sinopec Group and
CNOOC. (CCR2005, No. 30) The Yangzhuanghe refinery project is
the first refinery project in SYPC.
