Akzo Nobel Opens New Deco Site in Langfang

By Lily Wang

On June 11th, 2007 Akzo Nobel opened a new decorative coatings
site in Langfang, Hebei province, North China, to boost its
presence in the country's lucrative coatings market.
The addition of the new facility - situated just south of
Beijing - means that Akzo Nobel now operates three decorative
production sites in China, the other two being located in Suzhou
in the East China and Guangzhou in the South China.
Board member Leif Darner conducted the opening ceremony and
stressed establishing strong leadership positions in global
markets is essential to the company's growth strategy.
The site - which has been in pilot operation since February
2007 - will help to meet increased demand and allow Decorative
Coatings to further improve service to its customers in the north
of the country, where there are a number of major population
centers.
Another site opening took place in Taixing, Jiangsu province,
East China on June 13th, 2007. The new plant produces 10 000 tons
of polysulfides per year, to meet the needs of Chinese and
European as well as the USA markets.
In additional, Akzo Nobel has recently announced investments
of Euro 250 million for its multi-product site in the Ningbo
Chemicals Industry Zone, Zhejiang province, East China, to meet
the growing demand for cellulosics in Asian market.
